If you are looking to explore some of the less common dive sites off the coast of Puerto Vallarta, then check out our Advanced Scuba Dive trip! These scuba dive trips are better suited for advanced divers who have plenty of experience and at least 25 dives under their belt. If you fall under this category, then try to squeeze at least one of these unique dive trips on your itinerary! These sites offer great marine diversity, including some larger sea species such as manta rays.
The first of these top-notch advanced the Great Pacific Manta, Sailfish, dolphins, galapago sharks, wahoo, white-tip reef shark, and massive schools of jacks, among others!
El Morro is one of the most popular advanced dive sites. Located just six miles west of the famous Marietas Islands, El Morro features a series of massive rock pinnacles that reach up to the surface of the water. Here, you can do wall diving and cave diving at depths of up to 150 feet! The most common marine life found at El Morro include sea horses, dolphins, jacks, yellowtails, octopus, turtles, and lobster - not to mention some of the region’s largest manta rays and moray eels! An advanced certification is not required, but experience with scuba diving is required!
Another advanced site that you can go to is Los Anegados, located on the outskirts of the Banderas Bay. This dive site is not as deep as El Morro but it is as equally fascinating and diverse! Here, you will see some of the most interesting underwater rock formations anywhere in the Pacific. The most common sea dweller at Los Anegados is the gentle and shy nurse shark. It is a truly unique experience to scuba dive among sharks. Nurse sharks are one of the gentlest species of shark, so there is nothing to worry about! Other common dwellers in Los Anegados include tuna, jacks, rays, and eels.
Our most advanced and remote dives offered here is the La Corbetena dive, where divers can go down to about 120 feet depths. This dive site is far into the Pacific Ocean, some 40 miles from the coast of Puerto Vallarta, making it by far the most unique and rare dive site of any of our dive trips. When diving La Corbetena keep your eyes peeled for turtles, sharks, dolphins, schools of jack and tuna, and manta rays! These dives require a minimum of four divers.
