Vallarta Offroad Adventure

Vallarta Offroad Adventure

Explore the unseen Puerto Vallarta with our Vallarta Offroad Adventure. This unique adventure takes you well off the beaten path to explore the Puerto Vallarta that most visitors never get the chance to see! This journey takes you through off road paths to visit traditional villages and the diverse and thriving ecosystems of the mountains and jungles.

Puerto Vallarta is located just a few miles from the edge of the massive Sierra Madre Mountains. It is also located right on the Banderas Bay. The area of Puerto Vallarta has long been home to all kinds of civilizations, thanks to the area’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean as well as to the rich resources of the various Sierra Madre ecosystems. The Vallarta Offroad Adventure allows you to explore this hidden culture and natural wonders.

The tour starts off with a 4x4 ride on our off-road Mercedes Benz unimog jeeps. These vehicles allow us to traverse rough terrain and paths that are lined with lush foliage and centuries old settlements. Our first stop is small, rural Mexican village where you will get the chance to see what rural Mexican life is like. You will munch on delicious and freshly prepared corn tortillas with Mexican style beans and hand-made salsas. You will learn how these rural families live in a sustainable manner by growing and preparing the very foods you will get to sample.

The next part of the tour takes you into the forest for a 45-minute nature hike. Your professional eco tour guide will teach you all about the forest vegetation, flora and fauna that you will walk among. You will get a chance to see some of the most beautiful and lush forest ecosystems in Mexico during this hike. The adventure wraps up at a local beach, where you will get to sit on the soft white sand and enjoy a delicious barbecue lunch as you sip on your drink of choice from the open bar. Here, you will get to take in the beauty of the water as you talk about the unforgettable adventure you just experienced!

Where does this tour go?

This is a full day tour which takes you into the interior of Banderas Bay to see some of the traditional towns. You will stop for a walking tour of one of the towns before heading off-road and inland to the forests. Here you do a hike, and then head off to the beach outside of the bay at either San Pancho or Monterey.

What are the towns in the interior called?

We do stop at a number of different towns, but their names are, in order from Puerto Vallarta: Mezcales, El Porvenir, San Jose, Valle De Banderas. Most tours also stop at a very small settlement after the jungle hike called Guamuchil where you may visit a farm.

How tough is the hike?

We have a number of different hikes in the forest and so depending on the type of group your guide will choose a route in advance so as to suit everyone. Do be prepared however to walk over uneven ground and up some hills. The walk takes approx. 45 mins and it can be very warm in the forest.

Will we see wild life and interesting plants?

You can never guarantee what you will see but our guides are expertly trained to spot wildlife and interesting plants and trees. You are very likely to see reptiles such as iguanas, maybe snakes such as boa constrictors and many tropical birds. There are lots of smaller insects too such as termites and cutter ants. The plant life is fascinating too and includes many types or orchids, bromeliads and the strangler fig trees.

Is this tour suitable for all ages and abilities?

The tour is not recommended for children under 8 as the ride can be bumpy. It is quite a physical tour also and so is not recommended for pregnant women, people with back problems or those who have difficulty walking.

Can you swim at the beach at the end of the day?

The tour ends at a spectacular beach outside of the bay. Here the waves can be very powerful as you are on the open Pacific Ocean and so it is not always possible to swim. We will have lifeguard on duty however to let you know if it's possible to swim. Even if you can't, you will still be able to soak up the sun - these beaches outside of the bay are mind-blowingly beautiful!

Are all of the drinks and food included?

Yes. We provide soft drinks and water only in the morning and then the bar is open with beer, margaritas, tequila and Bacardi from lunch time onwards. Each truck even takes a "cooler bar" in the back for the journey back home. Snacks are provided after the hike and then a big buffet barbecue is served at the beach so you won't go hungry on this tour!

Should I bring money for souvenirs and photos?

Yes, since we do a couple of stops on the road where you can purchase souvenir candies, postcards or some few other trinkets. We provide photo services in every tour and they will be available for you at the end of the tour.

What is children's age/price for this tour?

Children must be a minimum of 8 years old. Any child age 12 years and over is considered an adult.

Can I take this tour if I am pregnant?
